Nutrition Tailored to Your Pet's Age & Health Needs

Depending on your dog or cat's age, breed and health status, their dietary needs can change dramatically. Nutritional consultations focus on assessing your companion's specific nutritional needs and altering their diet to improve overall health and vitality at every stage of life.

Many dogs and cats are plagued with chronic health issues that are hard to manage with conventional medicine alone. Often, through nutritional assessments, we are able to optimize the pet's diet in a way that minimizes or even eliminates symptoms.

The Dietary Counselling Process

We’ll start by conducting a thorough physical exam and a health analysis to determine your companion’s current health status. Using that information we will determine how nutritional changes could help to address health concerns and create a plan to improve your pet's overall health.

As part of your pet's dietary plan, our veterinarian may recommend prescription food products, a raw food diet or supplements if they feel these changes will have added benefits for your pet. In some cases, a home-cooked diet is best. Our team will provide all the guidance you need to make your pet's transition to a new way of eating successful for both of you.

Over time, your dog or cat's nutritional needs will change, so it's important to have their requirements reassessed every so often. Often, during your dog or cat's annual examination, we will revisit their nutrition plan to make sure it is still effective.

How Can Dietary Counselling Help My Pet?

Our dietary counselling services can help you decode nutritional labels on conventional pet foods and pinpoint areas of your pet's health that may be improved with deliberate changes to their diet.

A nutritional counselling appointment can help you to:

  • Manage your pet's food allergies
  • Control health conditions such as diabetes and joint pain
  • Help your pet achieve a healthy weight
  • Learn how much food to feed your pet
  • Choose food for your pet based on their needs
