Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic as Part of Integrative Pet Care
Veterinary chiropractic or veterinary spinal manipulative therapy (VSMT) aims to promote healthy mobility by manipulating the musculoskeletal and neurologic systems of pets.
These treatments can be used to help support optional joint function and mobility in healthy pets and address various musculoskeletal conditions in dogs and cats affected by degenerative disorders or old age.
As a stand-alone therapy or in combination with conventional care, veterinary chiropractic treatments can be a valuable part of your companion's integrative health plan.
Meet Our Veterinary Chiropractor
At Pawsitive Veterinary Care, we are proud to have Dr. Liz Easterling at our clinic performing chiropractic treatments. With her years of experience, you can trust that your pet is in capable hands.
Dr. Easterling provides a unique service as she can provide treatment for both pets and humans at our facility. We will book pet appointments once we have examined them in order to make a referral.
Why Choose Veterinary Chiropractic Care?
Spinal issues and musculoskeletal disorders can cause your companion's health to deteriorate quickly. These disorders can severely impact movement, posture and flexibility, negatively impacting your pet's quality of life.
If your pet is displaying these signs, they may benefit from chiropractic care:
- Showing a pained facial expression
- Displaying a change in gait that may include a shortened stride or limping
- Being reluctant to be touched or picked up
- Noticeable changes in posture or an inability to bear weight
What to Expect During Treatment
Chiropractic care is most commonly administered as a treatment option for pets experiencing spinal problems or biomechanical-related musculoskeletal disorders.
During a veterinary chiropractic treatment session, your dog or cat will typically undergo spinal manipulation or manual therapy to have misplaced vertebrae in the spine (also referred to as vertebral subluxations) shifted back to their natural positions. This helps release pressure on surrounding nerve tissue and relieve discomfort.
Once vertebrae are back in their proper positions your pet's body should be able to move more naturally.
