Dr. Moira Drosdovech

Veterinarian

After graduation from veterinary college in 1987, I first worked in Vancouver, B.C. for 4 years and then moved to Kelowna in 1990. I purchased a practice there, started a family, bought a farm, bought some llamas, horses, goats, chickens, and life was good. In or around 1997, my practice philosophy took quite a turn to one that encompassed a more holistic bent.

It started with learning more about vaccinations for children, and the possibility that they weren’t all they were cracked up to be, and it spread to the management of my patients.  I sold the Rutland Pet Hospital in 1998, took a Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy and started Pawsitive Veterinary Care in 2000. I must say that this style of practice, the holistic approach, is far more satisfying as a veterinarian than a strictly conventional approach to health and disease.

I can honestly say, subjectively, that those individuals who follow our recommendations for vaccines, diets, and choice of treatments for their pets ailments have some of the healthiest pets I have ever seen on the whole. It is wonderful to see! I would love to be able to play a role in the education process of every pet owner around the globe and with this web site, that can be accomplished. Feel free to invite others to the site and to link to this site from your web site if it is a good fit.

Dr. Mike Lavroff

Veterinarian

I am a husband to my wife Janine whom I have known since I was two. We have 4 children, 3 of which are now adults with their own children, but we still have our youngest daughter at home. In addition to a lovely English Golden retriever, we also have 2 horses which is a shared passion for my youngest daughter and I and a wonderful opportunity for us to spend time together almost every day.

I have been a veterinarian since 1985 and, unfortunately (although I’ve always been open-minded), I did not truly open my eyes to the benefits of holistic nutrition and medicine until 2010.  However, I have finally realized that there is a difference between making animals (and people!) feel better and actually making them healthier! Although they certainly have their place, drugs/pharmaceuticals will never make anyone truly healthier. True health comes from the inside and can only be accomplished when the body is provided with optimal nutrition, a healing environment, and supportive treatment methods. Examples of supportive healing methods are: acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy, laser therapy, body talk, detox therapy, and herbal treatment. Each of these can help free the body from unnecessary burdens and allow it to function properly.

I have been working at Pawsitive Veterinary Care, first, part-time since 2014, and have since increased my time there. Working there has been really rewarding for me as I see animals move from a condition of chronic poor health to a state of true wellness. Unfortunately, this is not always easy or uniformly successful as we are dealing with a host of genetic weaknesses, environmental toxicity (which animals are more prone to than humans), as well as the effects of over-vaccination and over-medication. Nevertheless, I find my new work much more gratifying and the Pawsitive Team refreshing and fun to work with!

Claudia

Practice Manager

I joined the Pawsitive Veterinary team as a Veterinary Office Assistant in February 2014. In April 2017 I made the change to a new role of Practice Manager. I graduated from the Veterinary Medical Receptionist program at Olds College in April 2013. I love animals and grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, and rabbits, so it was easy decision for me to join this field. I absolutely love the holistic side to Veterinary Medicine! I have learned so much since working here! I love that I am around animals in my work life and personal life, all day and every day.

I have 3 fur children (cats) in my life named Lyric, Jax  (pictured), and Goose.  When I am not working my hobbies include horseback riding, dance, softball, hiking, and exploring.

I look forward to meeting and helping you and your furry family!

Jessica

Client Care Specialist

I always knew that when I grew up I wanted to be surrounded by animals at my home. I thought to myself, what better career path to choose than to work in the veterinary field!  When I realised the holistic/Integrative pathway Pawsitive takes, I knew I had to pack my things and move onto the next chapter of my life in Kelowna! I joined the Pawsitive family in 2022 and now spend everyday with all types of furry friends!

I grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia with a small family hobby farm. We had goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, and our rescue squirrel. Let’s just say our family got attached to any creature we saw. I came to Kelowna with my leonberger, Grizzly. We were both ready for the adventure to come!

When I am away from the clinic, I am usually found on a paddle board or a slow pitch field enjoying the sunshine!

Taya

Client Care Specialist

I was born and raised in Alberta, and lived on an acreage out by Wabamun Lake. I am the youngest out of the family and I have an older brother named Jake. I moved to Kelowna in 2019 with my boyfriend Sam, and our Chihuahua Pom, Rico Suave. I have always been an animal lover and have always wanted to work with animals. I started volunteering when I was 14 years old at a vet in Edmonton. Animal lovers run in my family as my family owns an equestrian centre in Calgary. I’ve also worked with the Edmonton Wildlife Society helping them with whatever wild life that was in need of care.  I loved working there. I learned so many things and got to see some wild animals I thought I would never get close to! I’ve been working for Pawsitive Vet since August of 2020 and love it here! I love living in West Kelowna and I’m a very outdoorsy person. Sam, Rico and I go on adventures every chance we get, you barely will find us inside! ♡

Lanna

Registered Veterinary Technician

I have been in the animal health field since 2012, working in various hospitals across BC as a veterinary assistant, and volunteering on a few farms. I graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Douglas College in 2016, and became a Registered Veterinary Technician later that summer.

I’ve never been able to label myself as a cat-person or a dog-person, as they both have special places in my heart. I have a very needy and smart border collie/shepherd mix at home named Jax; he loves to visit the clinic and be the door greeter. I also acquired a special-needs kitty, Ellie, from Kelowna Kitten Rescue, who came for her spay and I just had to take her home!  Eddie, also from Kelowna Kitten Rescue joined our family in fall 2022.

I was born in Kelowna but raised across the country, so I’m very happy to be back home in the beautiful Okanagan. I joined Team Pawsitive in January of 2017 and I’m very proud of the work we do, and I love the family I work with!

Laura

Veterinary Assistant

Animals – feathered, furred, or scaled – have always fascinated me. I grew up with my nose between the pages of encyclopedias and animal-centric novels. I’m an animal nerd at heart, and learning how to care for them became my passion. Contributing to animal welfare became my goal.

I graduated from my Veterinary Hospital Assistant program in 2019, worked as a reptile educator, then joined the Pawsitive family in 2020, and now provide care for your pets during treatment and recovering from surgery.

My two pups are Phoebe, a Chinese Crested, and Reginald, a FMD rescued from Taiwan, and my cat Mr. Kitty Whiskers.

When I’m not exploring the world with my kids (furred and non-furred), reading, writing, or attempting to finish one of many art projects, I’ll be cozied up with a warm cup of tea, watching an animal documentary. ♡

Nicole

Veterinary Assistant

I was born and raised in the Okanagan, and then moved into Kelowna in 2020. Growing up, you would find me volunteering at Critteraid in Summerland, helping take care and spending time with all the adoptable cats. This led me to adopt my boys Monkey and Oscar. Monkey is a very sassy but very loving Domestic Short Hair, and Oscar is a giant fur ball of a cuddle-bug. We also have Finnigan, our goofy Border Collie/ Akbash dog, who loves to play around with the cats. I have always wanted to be surrounded by animals. So much in fact, that in my Kindergarten scrapbook, there is a sheet that asks “What do you want to be when you grow up?” My entry that I put down was “Veterinarian.”  I joined the Pawsitive team in March, 2023 and have been loving every minute of it. My favourite part of working here is the relationships I have built with our team, and of course all the fur babies that trust us to take amazing care of them.
